IWOOT Camping Trip 2009
Posted in Cool Stuff, IWOOT Stuff, Office Stuff, Party Stuff, YouTube Stuff by EddyWootAs offices go, we’re quite a close knit bunch of people. I mean, we’re not picking out wallpaper patterns or anything, but we do enjoy each others company. From time to time we like to descend upon the streets of West Norwood and Balham to have what we like to call “team building” exercises – these usually consist of a few swift pints and a burger. Last weekend we decided to take the exercise outside the city of London (variety is the spice of life, after all) and set up camp on our MD’s family farm.
Now an IWOOT camping trip just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t bring along some outdoorsy type gadgets for the team to play with, so that’s exactly what we did. Unfortunately the weather didn’t hold out long enough for us to use all of them but the ones we did looked absolutely stunning in the summer twilight. Luckily, Jimbo had recovered enough from his “Rolerball Misadventure” (which I still maintain had nothing to do with me, despite the wealth of circumstantial evidence) to shoot some footage of the Love Heart Flying Lanterns ascending into the night sky.
The next morning the weather completely turned on the IWOOT campers making most of us (myself included) scarper back to the big smoke to lie in big comfy beds, away from the damp and disappointing weather. There were some hardcore campers left behind who were determined to enjoy the days activities, whatever the weather. The Microlighting I understand, but I’m still somewhat puzzled by the sheep shearing. . .
Check out the video and a selection of pics below.

Hmmm, I should mention that I probably squashed the poor microlight pilot.
How i scoffed when Kieran had the challenge of catching and shearing the sheep. But how much fun is sheep shearing! After IWOOT im off to pursue a career as a farmer’s wife!
What the hell? Pic number 7 – Why has one lady not got a face?
Unfortunately one of our team would prefer to remain anonymous – apparently if she tells us why she’ll have no choice but to kill us.
You guys look as cool and diverse as the gadgets you sell on your very funky site. Looks like you had a blast. Ever invite outsiders to this get-togethers??
I’m afraid we like to keep it pretty low key. If we invite one person, we have to invite everyone, then before you know it there’s a fleet of police helicopters trying to shut down an innocent bbq that they’ve mistaken for a rave. We do often find ourselves in pubs relatively near our office so we might see you around town.
isn’t it a touch irresponsible to essentially light unmanned incendiary devices, launch them into the sky (above an area predominately made of wood) with no hope of controlling when and where they come down?
I mean, dont get me wrong, personally I love the idea
You’ll be happy to know that we followed the safety instructions to the letter (some of which can be found here). The lantern ascends until it runs out of fuel, so it’s no longer on fire by the time it reaches the ground. It was also a very moist weekend, so there was little or no chance of any of the surrounding brush catching fire if the worst happened. We take safety very seriously at IWOOT, especially with our products. Plus it was the MD’s family farm – he wouldn’t have let us set them off if we hadn’t made 100% sure the conditions were completely safe.
How I looooooove IWOOT…..
Love, adore, snuggle much…. lol x
Looks fun… Question: Is the blond girl in the blue the one who does “the gadget bit” on something for the weekend now and again?
Play Safe
The one and only.
won’t be doing the IWOOT pub crawl any time soon…our offices are in Scotland. Pretty, but pretty far for a pint. IWOOTSTOCK…consider it.
That sounds like an amazing idea! If we book them, they will come. PS – it’s NEVER too far for a pint.
Wow… a real life celeb working at iwoot, who would have thunk it. Probably not the best place to ask but…Any chance of getting a heads up on what is going to be on something for the weekend before it is aired?
And on the pint discussion, I think the length of distance travelled for a pint is directly proportionate to the contents of the pint glass… Its true, its science… The formula looks like this >
e= {_}? + (*o*) = {_}? & \_/
