Food envy: Angry Birds cupcakes

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Could someone please make the IWOOT team some of these please:

We can’t get enough of these fuming fowls whether it’s on the iPhone or the cuddly, all most real-life versions, but having seen these cupcakes (check out all the other attempts on Google: search ‘Angry Birds cupcakes’) we’re now partially obsessed with eating a cupcake with an Angry Bird on it.

IWOOT Party In The Park

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Woop woop, it’s party o’clock at IWOOT Towers! Well, it was yesterday evening anyway. We packed up some of our favourite toys, a whole load of booze and food and made ourselves rather fat and drunk, all in the course of a few hours. Good times. Pics below…

Idyllic.

Aaah...

We really do work very hard.

IWOOT Camping Trip 2010

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

This time last year, the IWOOT Crowd decamped (well, not quite) to our MD’s Hertfordshire farm for some serious relaxation. Well, as much relaxation as a fully-stocked ice bucket and a couple of shotguns can provide (we’re not joking).

Of course, being IWOOT, we took oodles of toys and gadgets to keep us entertained while we ate, drank and were merry. Some of the pictures below show our favourite summer products in use and working beautifully. Peri Peri burgers, springbok and a whole host of delicious meats were enthusiastically stuffed into faces alongside a small avalanche of beers (though someone accidentally left the MyBreweryTap box in the office, curse them!), and a fine time was had by all.

The weather held out completely, bathing our little haven of a campsite in sunshine and, later, a dusky warmth that stayed all night. As you can see, we had a smashing time.

Croquet. Beer. Result.

Clay pigeon shooting with REAL shotguns. Yikes!

Prepping for the feast...

Happy Camper.

Win Free Tickets to Underground Rebel Bingo this Saturday

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Underground Rebel Bingo have nabbed some freebie prizes from IWOOT in the past (see here for an earlier blog post), so we thought it was only fair if we got something in return – which is good news for you, loyal readers. We’ve managed to blag two free tickets and £20-worth of free drinks for this Saturday (20th March) for one lucky person who tweets the following:

RT @iwootblog 2 Free Rebel Bingo tickets + drinks for exclusive underground London Gig this Saturday http://bit.ly/cGN9iL

We’ll pick a winner at random after the competition closes at 12pm on Friday. The winner will be put on the VIP Guest List and, as well as those drinks, will have the chance to win a stack of IWOOT goodies – always a bonus. Rebel Bingo is one of London’s best nights out, holding their events in secret locations under the auspices of things like “London Antiques Fair” or “Residents Association Meeting”. Crafty, eh? You can find more info and pictures of young people having fun and spending too much here.

Remember – the more you tweet, the more likely you are to win.

Here are some thoroughly entertaining Ts and Cs:

• The competition closes at 12pm on the 19th March 2010.
• The winner will be picked by a random generator on the 19th of March 2010.
• There is only one prize of 2 x Underground Rebel Bingo Tickets and £20 tab behind the bar on the night.
• The winner will be notified via twitter so make sure you check it on Friday afternoon. IWOOT reserves the right to randomly select another winner at 3pm Friday 19th March if you have not responded. In light of this, please check twitter!
• You can enter the competition as many times as you like. The more you tweet the more likely you are to win.
• This competition is completely free to enter, no purchase is necessary.
• Employees of I Want One of Those their immediate families and anyone professionally connected with the promotion are not eligible to enter this competition
• No responsibility will be accepted for entries that are not received.
• IWOOT reserves the right to disqualify any entrant.
• The prize is a 2 x Underground Rebel Bingo Tickets for the 20th March 2010 in London. They are non transferable and there is no cash alternative.

IWOOT Kitschmas Party 2009

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Office Christmas Party season is upon us once again and you’re probably already looking forward to the prospect of Malcolm from accounts photocopying his arse before passing out under his desk. Obviously we’re no different at IWOOT Towers (though we’ve no idea who Malcolm is), and we celebrated the coming of Jesus/Santa/Friday with due mirth, frivolity and costumes. The theme, in case you can’t tell from these pictures, is Kitsch.

That jumper came from eBay, that shirt came from the office. Depressing, eh?

The Kitsch Factor finalists battle it out for a shot at Xmas No. 1...

Team Creative (featuring Carlton from the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air)

Anyone else a little scared of Customer Services?

Not really, CS are lovely, see?

You may remember what happened last time Rob got a microphone in his hands – for those of you who don’t, why not have a little look here. Everyone else can surely imagine what the audio equivalent of this picture would be. Wow.

I preferred his work with Another Level.

IWOOT FC In Nail-Biting Charity Belter

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Last night, the cream of IWOOT’s athletic contingent (the least unhealthy, in other words) took on the formidable might of Thumbs Up, one of our lovely suppliers in a charity football match for Children In Need. It goes without saying that it was a sporting encounter comparable with the big leagues, and a jolly old time was had by all at the Norbury Powerleague Centre.

The most important thing to note is that we won, 11-10, after being 4-1 and 7-2 down at certain points, so it really was a valiant effort from our own little Carlos Valderramas.

Here’s a convenient list of match facts:

  • IWOOT’s team was made up of Ben (scored 4), Sergio, Simon, Neil (scored 3), Neil and Paul (also scored 3), with lady support from Melissa, Wanessa and Jo.
  • One of our goals was an own goal from Thumbs Up. Whoopsie!
  • Simon grazed his knee quite badly (see below).
  • Ben was awarded a shiny medal for being Man Of The Match.
  • Sergio moaned before, during and after the game, and also brought a dressing gown with him for the shower.
  • Post-match, everyone went for a slap-up Mexican meal courtesy of Thumbs Up – big thanks to them for being such great sports and giving us such a good game!

IWOOT at the T3 and Stuff Awards

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Our glamorous representative in gadgetland EllaWoot recently ‘worked extremely hard’ at some awards dos – she reports:

“The last fortnight has seen all our favourite techy magazines go into awards overdrive. First stop last week – the Stuff Awards. I had to turn myself from Ella to Cinderella in record time – here’s me in the silver frock:

stuff-awards

The award ceremony was held at the uber-swanky Dorchester on Park Lane. The venue was awash with all my favourite tech faces. I’m a big fan of the Stuff gang so the champagne reception immediately perked up as I saw Tom Wiggins and Will Findlater, the life and soul of all good industry parties. The award categories were relevant and interesting and IWOOT were up there with the nominees for Retailer of the Year. Unfortunately Play.com pipped us to the post – but next year vote for us and we’ll hopefully be blogging with a trophy gleaming away on the mantelpiece! And what’s a party without an embarrassing episode? Cue drunk dad at a wedding-esque moves. Here’s a pic of a guest showing us his moves.

The song he was moshing to… ‘Wild Thing’… ’nuff said!

Last night I took myself off to the T3 Awards. If you translate the swankiness of Park Lane into sheer cool, you’ve got the venue of the awards. A less formal dress code and dry ice made for an exciting ambience. I had a front row table with Radio 1 and Sky News and my soon-to-be-partner-in-crime, Jane from MSN (as pictured). Mike Brooke the Editor of T3 and Johnny Vaughn were the masters of ceremony and were very funny at that. Apple, Google and Sony won the lion’s share of awards and were all well-deserved with an expert panel judging each and every nominee.

Thanks to Stuff and T3 for having me along to their bashes and roll on the next party in gadgetland!”

IWOOT Camping Trip 2009

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

As offices go, we’re quite a close knit bunch of people. I mean, we’re not picking out wallpaper patterns or anything, but we do enjoy each others company. From time to time we like to descend upon the streets of West Norwood and Balham to have what we like to call “team building” exercises – these usually consist of a few swift pints and a burger. Last weekend we decided to take the exercise outside the city of London (variety is the spice of life, after all) and set up camp on our MD’s family farm.

Now an IWOOT camping trip just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t bring along some outdoorsy type gadgets for the team to play with, so that’s exactly what we did. Unfortunately the weather didn’t hold out long enough for us to use all of them but the ones we did looked absolutely stunning in the summer twilight. Luckily, Jimbo had recovered enough from his “Rolerball Misadventure” (which I still maintain had nothing to do with me, despite the wealth of circumstantial evidence) to shoot some footage of the Love Heart Flying Lanterns ascending into the night sky.

The next morning the weather completely turned on the IWOOT campers making most of us (myself included) scarper back to the big smoke to lie in big comfy beds, away from the damp and disappointing weather. There were some hardcore campers left behind who were determined to enjoy the days activities, whatever the weather. The Microlighting I understand, but I’m still somewhat puzzled by the sheep shearing. . .

Check out the video and a selection of pics below.

Rolerball Test Drive.

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Every now and then the MD lets us take some of our toys to the park for a playtime picnic. Check out what happened when we took the Rolerball out for a test drive.

If you have a spare £999 lying around (check behind the couch) then you should definitely consider getting one of these for yourself. Forget about the stock market – invest in some pure unadulterated fun.

The Underground Rebel Bingo Club

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

They don’t care what people think. They want to dance. They want to drink. But most of all, they want to play dirty secret hardcore bingo. IWOOT has been supplying top notch prizes to the beautiful people from The Underground Rebel Bingo Club for quite some time now, so we were more than a little chuffed when they were reviewed by Time Out and received the coveted Top Pick for Bingo Clubbing.

“Bingo Nights are taking over clubland. We rate each one’s assets out of five and tally them up to see who’s got the bounciest balls. . . Luckily a new wave of bingo trendifiers are trying their best to reclaim full houses and dabbers from the blue-rinse brigade. From Bring and Share Musical Bingo’s substitution of numbers for songs, to the foul mouthed corset-clad bingo callers of Underground Rebel Bingo, we’ve rated the best night’s trying to revarnish the game’s appeal and give bingo wings.”

Scoring a massive 23 points out of a possible 25, Underground Rebel Bingo came out on top. We’re so proud of them. Their Bingo night is held at a secret location in the East End so we’re afraid if your name’s not on the list, you’re not getting in.
