Donate To Children In Need With IWOOT

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

As listeners to Terry Wogan’s breakfast show will know (and that includes me), Children In Need is tomorrow night. At IWOOT Towers we’ve decided to go all-out and do as many fun, interesting and down-right ridiculous things as we possibly can to contribute to this great cause.

As we reported yesterday, our Charity Football Match was a smashing success (partly because we won), and we’ve got whole host of things lined up across the rest of this week and next week to make us much wonga as we possibly can.

We will be doing the following in addition to our footy triumph:

  • Enforced hat-wearing
  • A swear-box in customer services (much-needed, apparently)
  • Indian Head Massages
  • Cake Sale
  • Professional portrait photos
  • A pub quiz this coming Wednesday

It’s so easy to donate - just click on the button below to go to our Just Giving page and give us what you can spare. It all goes to Children In Need, so you can be sure your money will do immeasurable good in their hands.

IWOOT FC In Nail-Biting Charity Belter

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Last night, the cream of IWOOT’s athletic contingent (the least unhealthy, in other words) took on the formidable might of Thumbs Up, one of our lovely suppliers in a charity football match for Children In Need. It goes without saying that it was a sporting encounter comparable with the big leagues, and a jolly old time was had by all at the Norbury Powerleague Centre.

The most important thing to note is that we won, 11-10, after being 4-1 and 7-2 down at certain points, so it really was a valiant effort from our own little Carlos Valderramas.

Here’s a convenient list of match facts:

  • IWOOT’s team was made up of Ben (scored 4), Sergio, Simon, Neil (scored 3), Neil and Paul (also scored 3), with lady support from Melissa, Wanessa and Jo.
  • One of our goals was an own goal from Thumbs Up. Whoopsie!
  • Simon grazed his knee quite badly (see below).
  • Ben was awarded a shiny medal for being Man Of The Match.
  • Sergio moaned before, during and after the game, and also brought a dressing gown with him for the shower.
  • Post-match, everyone went for a slap-up Mexican meal courtesy of Thumbs Up - big thanks to them for being such great sports and giving us such a good game!

Well done everyone!

IWOOT Triumphs at the WOW! Awards

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

As customers of IWOOT you’ll all be aware of how thoroughly nice we are here, and that our customer service team is top notch. Well, watch us swell with pride as we announce that our lovely CS team has been awarded two awards at the WOW! Customer Service Awards!

We were given the award for Best On-Line Retailer and the OWW To WOW! award, which apparently means that our CS superstars are always willing to go the extra mile. Anyone who saw their cake sale will know this to be true in every facet of their work. Yum. If you click through to the awards website, you can see our very own Cass and Sally talking about the awards and why we put so much emphasis on customer service. There’s some nice emotional music in the background, too.

Our MD, Richard Wainwright-Lee, had the following to say about it:

“The WOW! awards are a great accolade since they reflect many wonderful commendations from our customers. Everyone in IWOOT tries so hard to make our customers’ shopping experience with us a great one and I should simply like to say thank you to our customers for their continuing support and encouragement.”

Seriously though, in the same way that an army marches on its stomach, IWOOT marches on its customer service team - they do us proud!

Christmas Comes Early At IWOOT Towers…

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

We were visited by one of Santa’s little helpers this afternoon at IWOOT Towers, just to make sure preparations were in place, deliveries being completed, postal strikes being ignored, that kind of thing. He seemed reasonably impressed with what we’re up to, remarking favourably on the quality of our tea and biscuits. All together now, “aaahhhhh…”

We captured his visit just for you:

We’re now expecting all manner of Christmas inspections from various festively-dressed animals, just to make sure we’re doing our best.

IWOOT Goes To The Dogs

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Apologies for that title. But, for better or worse, a brave gaggle of IWOOT staff made their way to Wimbledon dog tracks to watch a load of boisterous animals race round and round in circles. And some greyhound races (ba-dum-chish!). Anyway, we gambled, we ate fast food, we saw the grizzled expressions on the sheepskin coat-wearing bet-takers, and some of us even came out with a profit. Dog names we appreciated included Skywalker Falcon, Lynn’s Friend and Granary Sparkle. How do they think them up? Sadly we didn’t get any pictures of the furry little Lewis Hamiltons, they were just too darn quick.

You can rest assured that all of us in the pictures below are wearing the smiles of gambling addicts.

Nice Things Happen In Scotland.

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Our lovely lady of marketing, whom shall from this point onward be known as Paula, spent Easter in Anstruther (yes - I know Easter was a while ago, leave me alone I’m busy) visiting family. Never one to miss an opportunity, we asked her to do something nice for some complete strangers just to prove that Nice Things Happen. The guys at the Anstruther Lifeboat Shed were more than chuffed with the Limbo String they got presented with, and even took some time to down to the funky limbo beat.

Paula had a great time up there (the east coast of Scotland is a lovely place, and I thoroughly recommend everybody visit it - not all at the same time, that would be chaos!) and is really looking forward to seeing how chuffed they all are when they see the blog post.
