Some customer photos…

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Now that Christmas is done and dusted (though the streets still seem to be littered with pine needles from discarded trees), we’ve had a couple of photos sent to us of people enjoying their IWOOT Christmas presents. This is exactly the sort of thing we love to receive at IWOOT, and heck, it makes us feel all warm inside, so we thought we’d share it with you.

First up, here’s an alternative use of one of our boxes, courtesy of @weeniebeenie on Twitter:

And this one from @harrietjeckells, who bought one of our Sumo Suits for her little brother:

Happiest boy ever? Probably. Furthermore, here’s one of his dad:

Do feel free to tweet us your snaps of IWOOT stuff in use, even if it’s just a cat in one of our boxes. Actually, make that particularly if it’s just a cat in one of our boxes.

Rice Bunny Loves The Gift Of Nothing

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

When we were trawling our analytics over Christmas (we lead exciting lives…) we noticed that a rather large amount of traffic had come via this odd little video on YouTube:

We’re rather fond of our gift of Nothing (perfect for when you can’t think of what to give someone), but it seems our friend Rice Bunny has a rather more in-depth appreciation of it than we thought possible. Listen to her extol the virtues of this most ingenious of gifts, it’s clear she’s thought long and hard about what to get her financially secure boyfriend.

Thanks Rice Bunny, we hope he enjoys it!

Pumpkin Carving Competition 2010 Winner

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Again, we’ve been thoroughly impressed with both the amount and the quality of your pumpkins. There’ve been vomiting pumpkins, mother-in-law pumpkins, sci-fi pumpkins… someone even entered a melon. Can’t think why. Anyway, it’s been a tough decision (so tough that we had to throw it open to an office vote), but we’ve finally come up with a winner we think is worthy of the Wand Remote Control:

Aww. This pumpkin was carved by Paul Lewis (and obviously modelled on Lennox the dog), so well done to Paul from all of us and enjoy your prize!

Cat Uses Fork To Eat

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

We’re not kidding. This is ridiculous.

Now, we know what you’re thinking, and you’re right. Anyone who takes their cat FOR A WALK in the first place needs to take a long hard look at themselves. Man’s quest to anthropomorphise his pets has often led to some bizarre outcomes, but this has to be among the strangest. Fortunately the look on the cat’s face as the batty old lady washes its paws is full of enough contempt to leave you in no doubt that the cat knows that what’s happening is totally wrong.

Tube Strike Funnies

Monday, September 6th, 2010

For anyone adversely affected by the London Tube Strikes over the next day or two, take comfort in the fact that the staff themselves are taking it very seriously. They’ve posted this super picture (below) on their unofficial blog and, for my money (not my travelcard money, mind), pretty much makes the hassle of getting 47 buses to work tomorrow acceptable. Well done chaps, have a nice couple of days off!

Aww.

Kitten Can't Jump

Monday, August 16th, 2010

It’s close to home-time on a Monday afternoon, so we thought the only natural way to alleviate that feeling of “eek, there’s probably something I should be doing right now” is to repeatedly watch this video.

Cats. They are ace.

July's Review of the Month Winners

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

July has gone, people. Get over it. August has muscled its way in with some distinctly odd weather, effectively trampling over the lovely example July made. What a month-bully, eh? Anyway, calendar quibbles can wait till September gets involved – it’s time to announce the winners of our monthly reviews competition!

First up and firmly poking the bits of us that make us say “aaaah…” is BeckyW’s review of the Picture Pockets. A £50 IWOOT will be tickling your inbox soon Becky, so start pressing F5!

“One of the best buys ever!
I have a 15 month old daughter who is the youngest in a very big extended family. I bought this to put on the back of her room door to fill with family members to help her become familiar with everyone’s faces and be comfortable in a big family setting; and of course learn everyone’s name as it can be a month or so between seeing some of the family.

It has made a difference already and ‘papa’ has been the first – some brownie points await from Papa methinks :)

Thanks IWOOT, it’s a great use of space to get some top photos out of the computer and on functional display for our daughter!”

Sob… we’re still getting over that one… an IWOOT product helped a baby talk! Onward – this month’s winner of a £75 IWOOT voucher is the enigmatically named red2508 for this photo of some lovely cakes (usually a good way to get our attention) made with the Teacup Cake moulds:

YUM.

Unbelievably there aren’t any video reviews for last month (come on, people!), but we’ve got something rather nice for you instead. All our reviews are submitted via the website, but one intrepid young person deemed it appropriate to send us an actual letter in the post to review our Snug Rugs. Imagine that! Communication that doesn’t happen through a screen! Here’s the evidence:

Aww...

Thanks Tom! A little something extra will be winging its way to you (via post, of course). No need to press F5.

June's Review Of The Month Winners

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

We know what you’re thinking – it’s almost the middle of July and we’re only just getting around to sorting out last month’s reviews. Well, with the IWOOT office having been turned into a flurry of catalogue production and website upgrades, it just got away from us slightly. So soz about that. Friends again?

Great! So, let’s give all these reviews the blog inches they deserve!

First up and winner of our £50 IWOOT Voucher is Sirram, for this lovely summation of the On The Run Notebooks:

“Sooo much fun:

Childish these may be, and entirely without any practical purpose, but these little passport beauties are just so much fun. Granted they are completely pointless, possibly worse than that they have the potential to entirely scupper any overseas travel plans if you are unfortunate enough to mix them up with the real thing and therefore arrive identity-less at an airport. However, I can forgive them all of that because there is something so appealing about the fantasy of escaping the harsh economic climate with a new identity and a new start overseas. I particularly like the inherent amusement in thinking a Cuban passport would be a passport to anywhere, and I have no idea what country one of the set is supposed to be from, but who cares. I got these delivered to me at work, and such was the enthusiasm of my colleagues I’ve donated some to be a prize in a Race for Life raffle… might have to buy some extra tickets myself though as don’t really want to part with them…”

Winner of the £75 IWOOT Voucher for the best photo review comes from Elijah who, as you can see, has had a rare old time mucking about with our Pandas in the garden. Kudos on finding actual bamboo.

Aww...

Rather unbelievably, no video reviews have been submitted this month, so some silly sausage has missed out on a whopping £150 IWOOT Voucher. Make sure we rectify it next month please chaps. As always, reviews you submit of IWOOT products you may have bought and loved (or hated) are automatically entered into our Review Of The Month competition, so by chatting about your purchases (or snapping and videoing them) can get you even more IWOOT-flavoured goodness.

Four-Year-Old Knows How To Rock

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Conclusive proof, as if it were needed, that the Paper Jamz Guitars are the future of rock ‘n’ roll. This four-year-old prodigy is rockin’ out something wizard to the strained vocals of Ozzy Osbourne and co., surely making him one of the youngest ever purveyors of heavy metal. What a kid.

Seriously though (and who wouldn’t be serious about a four-year-old playing the music of Black Sabbath?), the Paper Jamz really do encourage musicality in younger folks, so if you’re keen to relive your halcyon days again through the next generation, then the Paper Jamz are for you.

Who can argue with axe-wielding skills like that? In ten years’ time he’ll be headlining Bloodstock, you mark my words. Rock on, righteous little one!
