You may remember that last year we had a very successful pumpkin carving competition to celebrate Halloween. Well, shockingly, we’ve decided not to fix something that ain’t broke and do the exact same thing again! We were so impressed by the standard last year that we’re dead excited (Halloween joke-ette) to see what you’ll come up with this time around.
But what are you carving for, exactly? Whoever carves the best pumpkin will be the lucky winner of one of our superb Wand Remote Controls, the perfect thing to make your living room that little bit more magical. Use it to control anything that has a remote control – lights, the telly, your iPod dock, whatever you’ve got.
Here’s a picture of last year’s winner to get you in the mood and give you inspiration:

You can see some more of our favourites from last year by clicking here. We want the most creative, elaborate, scary or interesting pumpkin sculpture you can possibly craft – the standard of last year’s competition was extremely high, and we want to beat it. Once you’ve carved your pumpkin, photograph it and post it on our Facebook page, here.
So get a pumpkin and get carving to be in with a chance of winning! You’ve got until midday on Monday November 1st to post your photographs on our Faceook page.

To celebrate the release of the rather excellent ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’, we’re giving a 32″ TV away – and we’ve also got 10 DVDs of the film as well for some lucky runners up. And if you don’t like the idea of either a huge TV or Richard Gere in serious-mode, then heck, we don’t know what to do with you. Enough rambling, simply read the following po-faced plot synopsis (no spoilers, don’t worry) and answer the question below.
“From the director of Training Day comes Brooklyn’s Finest, a slick urban drama set in the morally ambiguous world of the New York police force. Burned out cop, Eddie (Richard Gere) is just one week away from retirement, whilst drugs officer Sal (Ethan Hawke) is realizing there’s no line he won’t cross to provide a better life for his family.
Meanwhile, Clarence “Tango” Butler (Don Cheadle) has been undercover so long that he feels a closer allegiance to infamous drug dealer Caz (Wesley Snipes) than he does to the force.
All three cops find themselves hurtling towards the same crime scene on one fatal night in this tense, edge of your seat thriller.”
And the question…
Who plays Eddie?
1. Don Cheadle
2. Ethan Hawk
3. Richard Gere
Of course, the real question should be ‘why on earth is Wesley Snipes playing someone called ‘Caz’?', but that’s by-the-by. Hang on, Ethan Hawke plays someone called ‘Sal’ as well – what’s going on in this film?! Send your answers to marketing@iwantoneofthose.com to be in with a chance by November 14th and good luck!

Some things in life are good, while some are, frankly, a bit rubbish. That’s just the way of it. Here at IWOOT, rather than lie to you and say that everything you get in life is super, amazing and just dandy, we thought it was about time we gave everyone a dose of reality. Enter our competition and you could win something wicked, or you could win something totally rubbish – it’s that simple. The real question is: Do You Feel Lucky?
To enter, all you have to do is ‘like’ us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter, and you’ll be in with a chance of winning the one good and one bad prize. The closing date is October 21st. Don’t worry if you’re already liking/following us, you’re already entered automatically. And don’t even think about asking us what the prizes will be – all we’ll say is that the good prize is really good, and the bad prize is really bad. You’ll just have to enter to find out exactly what they are! *Laughs maniacally and contemplates buying a cape*
So what are you waiting for? Get over to our Facebook page or our Twitter feed and get yourselves entered!
Some important Terms and Conditions are below. Ignore them at your peril…
• Closing time for the free prize draw will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday 21st October 2010.
• Two winners will be picked at random from anyone who ‘likes’ I Want One Of Those on Facebook or who follows us on Twitter at the close of entries.
• Anyone who currently ‘likes’ or follows IWOOT will be automatically entered into the competition. It is not necessary to ‘unlike’ or ‘unfollow’ first.
• The winners will be notified by their Twitter or Facebook account within 48 hours of the prize draw
• If the prizes are not claimed within 7 days of notification, another prize winner(s)will be drawn and the original prize winner(s) forfeits the prize
• The prizes will not be revealed until after the prize-draw and are decided by IWOOT.
• No alternative products or cash alternatives available.
• IWOOT’s decision is final and in the event of a dispute, no correspondence will be entered into
• Entry into the free prize draw will be taken as acceptance of the terms and conditions.

• This prize draw is completely free to enter, no purchase is necessary.
• The prize draw is not open to anyone associated with the promotion, employees of IWOOT, families or agents

August has long since toddled off – we know. We’re slow. But you know what, good things come to those who wait, isn’t that what they say? Unless you haven’t won, of course, in which case nothing but disappointment awaits you. Sorry. Anyway, on to lighter matters – which lucky so-and-sos have managed to pique the interest of our moderators?
First of all, the written review winner is the enigmatically (or possibly drunkenly) named VKKKKKKKKKKKKK, who has gotten themselves into a frenzy over our Steel Playing Cards:
“These steel cards are a steal! I’ve never spent money more wisely. I bought these for my brother at first but once they had came I got so hooked to them i kept the for myself. haha! The detail in this in UNBELIEVABLE! I’ve searched for interesting cards all over the net and my friend told me about IWOOT and its the site for me!
I spilt some coffee over a few of the cards (accidentally of course) and it dried and i just wiped it with a wet wipe and PRESTO! The coffee came off – no stains no hassle! Also, these cards are suprisingly light weight! Which is great considering you have to hold them.
Also, if playing in hot weather, these cards make excellent fans. ahaha! Easy to clean, light weight, beautiful, interseting and hassle free – why wouldn’t you want these cards! I recommend them!
”
Now that’s depth. And what an excellent opening pun. As for our photo review winner and the happy recipient of £75 to splurge with us, look below at the efforts of the appropriately named whippersnapper Gadgetman64 and his Boombox Speaker. Easy there, fella. Don’t throw it.

Our video winner is Spikeyseth, who wins our £150 IWOOT voucher and has evidently been having lots of fun with the Nighthawk Gyro:
This could be you next month, so do keep reviewing your purchases – you could win big!

At last, after much online prodding from the public, we are able to reveal that the winner of our much-coveted iPad is Twitter follower Emma Baines!
Of course, very many congratulations go to her, and we fully expect to see some evidence that the iPad is being used to its maximum potential. To everyone who entered, we thank you most graciously and hope you enjoyed (and will continue to enjoy) the ridiculous banter we laughingly call “social media interaction”. Recommend us to your friends, tell your pets, spray-paint IWOOT on the front of your house and remember to stop by once in a while to say hello!

Yes, you read that right – we’re giving away an iPad. We might not be the first to do it, but waiting in line to get one is just not our style.
We’re reasonably sure we don’t have to spell out exactly how amazing the iPad is or what it can do, but hey, we’ll give it a stab. Surf the internet, check your emails, watch movies, read a book, look through your photos, watch YouTube videos, store and listen to your iTunes library, download apps and perform a whole load of other life-enhancing tasks by simply touching the screen. Or, y’know, it’s also good as a baking tray*.
“But how, tell me how do I win one?” you must be excitedly thinking. Well, it’s simple – all you have to do to enter the draw is visit our Facebook page and click on “Like”, or follow us on Twitter. And who wouldn’t like/follow us? We’re giving away an iPad! In case you need showing, below is a helpful diagram of exactly where you need to click once you’ve arrived at our Facebook page:

Make sure you do it before midday on Tuesday 14th September, when we’ll randomly select a winner from everyone who likes us. If you’re already a fan of IWOOT on Facebook or Twitter, then you’ll already be entered into the competition automatically, so don’t worry about liking us twice. Not even sure if you can do that. We’re also chucking in some protective iBalls to go with it (stop sniggering – they fit on the corners of your iPad and stop its brains falling out if you happen to drop it), so all the more reason to enter.
So get to our Facebook page or our Twitter feed, get liking and following, and get in the running to win one of the most important technological creations of all time!

* It’s really not.

July has gone, people. Get over it. August has muscled its way in with some distinctly odd weather, effectively trampling over the lovely example July made. What a month-bully, eh? Anyway, calendar quibbles can wait till September gets involved – it’s time to announce the winners of our monthly reviews competition!
First up and firmly poking the bits of us that make us say “aaaah…” is BeckyW’s review of the Picture Pockets. A £50 IWOOT will be tickling your inbox soon Becky, so start pressing F5!
“One of the best buys ever!
I have a 15 month old daughter who is the youngest in a very big extended family. I bought this to put on the back of her room door to fill with family members to help her become familiar with everyone’s faces and be comfortable in a big family setting; and of course learn everyone’s name as it can be a month or so between seeing some of the family.
It has made a difference already and ‘papa’ has been the first – some brownie points await from Papa methinks
Thanks IWOOT, it’s a great use of space to get some top photos out of the computer and on functional display for our daughter!”
Sob… we’re still getting over that one… an IWOOT product helped a baby talk! Onward – this month’s winner of a £75 IWOOT voucher is the enigmatically named red2508 for this photo of some lovely cakes (usually a good way to get our attention) made with the Teacup Cake moulds:

Unbelievably there aren’t any video reviews for last month (come on, people!), but we’ve got something rather nice for you instead. All our reviews are submitted via the website, but one intrepid young person deemed it appropriate to send us an actual letter in the post to review our Snug Rugs. Imagine that! Communication that doesn’t happen through a screen! Here’s the evidence:

Thanks Tom! A little something extra will be winging its way to you (via post, of course). No need to press F5.

It’s time for us to get all end-of-term-awards-ceremony and announce who the winners of our BBQ competition are! How exciting!
First of all, though, we should probably tell you the answer to the fiendishly difficult (actually, it wasn’t that hard, was it?) question that we set. If you remember, we asked what the South African term for a barbecue was and approximately loads of you answered correctly:
“Braai”
So, now that you know, we can reveal the 5 winners:
Christina from Stafford
Karolina from London
Kelly from Oxford
Thomas from Halifax
Daniel from Ifield
Well done folks, enjoy your super BBQ prizes! We’ve emailed them already, so with any luck they should know by now… Thanks to all who entered, we were overwhelmed with responses!

The super chaps at Gastro Alfresco have, rather sportingly, furnished us with a whole load of essential BBQ bits and bobs to make sure your summer is as delectable as possible. So that means Pimm’s, crisps, Wine, deli wraps, cheese and more. Here at IWOOT we’re most excited about the Crabbie’s alcoholic ginger beer. In fact, we contemplated keeping it for ourselves and just not mentioning it, but our conscience (also known as the marketing department) kicked in. The long and short of it is that there are 5 Gastro Alfresco boxes to win, each of them worth £50 and ram-jam-packed with tastiness.

Anyway, as you know, BBQs are an essential part of the great British summer, but with the focus being on South Africa all this summer (just because the World Cup’s over doesn’t mean the BBQs should be) we think it’s about time we celebrate the Braai tradition. In fact, National BBQ Week was this year renamed National Braai week to celebrate. Visit the website to get all manner of recipes and tips on how to make the most of your BBQ extravaganza.

Back to the competition – all we need you to do is simply answer the following question and put the answer in an email to marketing@iwantoneofthose.com by July 31st, preferably with the subject heading “BBQ Competition”. So, that question…
What’s the South African term for BBQ?
Be sure to include your name, address and age in your email. Good luck!

We know what you’re thinking – it’s almost the middle of July and we’re only just getting around to sorting out last month’s reviews. Well, with the IWOOT office having been turned into a flurry of catalogue production and website upgrades, it just got away from us slightly. So soz about that. Friends again?
Great! So, let’s give all these reviews the blog inches they deserve!
First up and winner of our £50 IWOOT Voucher is Sirram, for this lovely summation of the On The Run Notebooks:
“Sooo much fun:
Childish these may be, and entirely without any practical purpose, but these little passport beauties are just so much fun. Granted they are completely pointless, possibly worse than that they have the potential to entirely scupper any overseas travel plans if you are unfortunate enough to mix them up with the real thing and therefore arrive identity-less at an airport. However, I can forgive them all of that because there is something so appealing about the fantasy of escaping the harsh economic climate with a new identity and a new start overseas. I particularly like the inherent amusement in thinking a Cuban passport would be a passport to anywhere, and I have no idea what country one of the set is supposed to be from, but who cares. I got these delivered to me at work, and such was the enthusiasm of my colleagues I’ve donated some to be a prize in a Race for Life raffle… might have to buy some extra tickets myself though as don’t really want to part with them…”
Winner of the £75 IWOOT Voucher for the best photo review comes from Elijah who, as you can see, has had a rare old time mucking about with our Pandas in the garden. Kudos on finding actual bamboo.

Rather unbelievably, no video reviews have been submitted this month, so some silly sausage has missed out on a whopping £150 IWOOT Voucher. Make sure we rectify it next month please chaps. As always, reviews you submit of IWOOT products you may have bought and loved (or hated) are automatically entered into our Review Of The Month competition, so by chatting about your purchases (or snapping and videoing them) can get you even more IWOOT-flavoured goodness.
